Ten minutes goes fast when you are talking about your health. Having your questions ready before the visit means you leave with clear answers, not a vague sense of what to do.

The seven questions

  1. What do you think is causing this? Get a clear explanation of what your symptoms likely mean.
  2. Do I need a prescription, or will self-care work? Not everything needs medication. Ask directly.
  3. What should I do if it gets worse? Know your escalation path before you need it.
  4. When should I follow up? Some concerns need a check-in. Find out if yours does.
  5. Do I need any lab work or testing? If so, your provider can tell you where to go.
  6. Is this related to any of my current medications? Drug interactions and side effects are real. Ask.
  7. What can I do at home to feel better? Self-care guidance is often the most useful part of the visit.

Write them down before you start

It is remarkably easy to forget your questions once the visit begins. Have them on a notepad or in your phone notes. Check them off as you go.

If you run out of time

If the visit wraps up and you still have questions, you can start another visit. Extra visits are $20 each. Or save your remaining questions for your next included visit next month.

$29/month. One live video visit. No insurance required.
Sign up online and connect with a provider in about 10 minutes Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM Eastern.

Before you start

Have your current medications and relevant history nearby. If you are helping a family member, let them decide who should be in the conversation. If you may be having a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
