Seasonal allergies affect millions of people each year. For many, the symptoms are manageable at home. For others, a conversation with a provider can make a real difference.

What a telehealth provider can do

A provider can review your symptoms, discuss your history with allergies, and recommend next steps. This might include over-the-counter options, a prescription if clinically appropriate, or a referral to an allergist.

When to seek in-person care

If your symptoms include difficulty breathing, wheezing, or swelling of the face or throat, seek emergency care immediately. These are not typical allergy symptoms and may indicate a more serious reaction.

Preparing for the visit

Note when your symptoms started, what triggers seem to make them worse, and what you have already tried. Mention any medications you take, including over-the-counter allergy medicines.

Allergies are common, but not everything is allergies.
If your symptoms are unusual or severe, a provider can help you figure out what is actually going on.

Before you start

Have your current medications and relevant history nearby. If you are helping a family member, let them decide who should be in the conversation. If you may be having a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
